Autism evaluations play a crucial role in promoting understanding and access to appropriate services and resources for individuals and their families within their communities.
Dr. Mejia uses assessment tools such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2), the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS-2) among others, to gain first-hand insights about your child’s challenges and strengths.
We will walk through this process together, following your child’s progress and adjusting their educational plan as their needs change.

The evaluation process for ADHD is a thorough, systematic and designed to assess various aspects of a child's behavior to determine if they meet the criteria for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
The evaluation involves a comprehensive review of medical history, developmental milestones, and behavioral patterns.
Standardized rating scales, behavioral assessments, and interviews with parents, teachers, and other care providers are typically employed to gather information about attentional difficulties, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and related impairments across different settings.

Premature infants are fragile in so many aspects, including their development.
Preterm infants are at increased risk for language, cognitive, sensory, and motor deficits, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), among other developmental concerns when compared to full-term infants.
If you are the parent of a premature infant, or a baby with a prolonged NICU stay, developmental follow-up is a good way to make sure your baby is thriving, not just growing.

What happens when your child just doesn’t fit into one label?
All children are special and unique, and sometimes that reflects on their personal challenges. Together, we will figure out the best way to help them.
Let’s remove the focus from what they’re lacking and discover the best way forward.
The evaluation process
Step 1 - Initial consult
We will schedule a 60-minute visit to have a thorough conversation about your child’s developmental trajectory and current functioning. We will also talk about prenatal, family and social history and any other important aspects that influence your child’s overall development.
Step 2 - Developmental Evaluations
In-depth developmental evaluations and specific assessments to gain first-hand information about your child’s strengths and challenges.
Step 3 - Plan development and follow up
Guided by your child’s history and evaluation results, we will develop a concrete plan to address their needs and help them reach their potential.
After the initial diagnosis, we will continue working together to measure progress and create new goals as needed.
